Please note that only accepted applicants may register for the BA degree / BA Hons programmes. Your spot in your selected programme is only secure once you pay the registration fee and complete the registration process.

Step 1: PROGRAMME DETAILS

IMPORTANT: First-year students in Communication Design, Contemporary Art, Interaction Design and Motion Design will follow a Shared Foundation Semester 1.
After Semester 1 students will start with their specialisation course and Design students and Contemporary Art students will follow a separate curriculum in Semester 2.
You may change the programme you register for now at the end of Semester 1 when you have to finalise your selection.

Full-credit study means the student takes all courses of a programme in one academic year. Part-credit study means the student takes some of the courses of a programme in one academic year.

The data is required so as to enable the DHET to profile the sector, with respect to students, as is standard practice world-wide. The categories have been set by the DHET.

Step 5: PAYMENT DETAILS

  • The registration fee must be paid for each year of enrolment and is non-refundable.
  • The registration fee must be paid before classes commence. 
  • All students must be registered by the end of January. A penalty fee of R500 will be charged for registrations after 1 February.
  • The registration fee is payable by electronic transfer (EFT) or bank deposit and is deducted from the course fees. [Please note: If costs are incurred when money is deposited, these costs will be debited to the student’s account.]
  • The balance is payable either in full or over the remainder of the academic year (February – November).

The Payment Agreement Form must be completed and signed.
On the form you select the preferred payment option:

Step 6: REQUIRED DOCUMENTS [UPLOAD]

Medical Aid membership proof (letter or scan of card showing both sides).
FOREIGN STUDENTS: must have membership of a South African medical aid fund.

Grade 12 Report: Most current academic report/ Final Grade 12 certificate / Certified copy of School leaving certificate. The final GR12 certificate must be submitted to the Creative Academy as soon as it is available.

Matriculation exemption is a requirement for degree studies. The following students must apply for a certificate of exemption through the Matriculation Board:

  • Students who did not pass Senior Certificate with endorsement; 
  • Students with a Cambridge or GED Matric qualification;
  • International students wishing to register for first-degree studies in South Africa must have their school qualifications evaluated by the Matriculation Board that will then issue a certificate of exemption to those who qualify.

The exemption certificate must be submitted to the CTCA as soon as possible. The admission of students without exemption will be regarded as conditional, until the exemption certificate has been recorded.


Mature exemption

A candidate who does not achieve Matric exemption may still be allowed access to the programme if he/she is 23 years of age, or older. Mature student exemption is granted on the basis of RPL (see recognition of prior learning).

International Levy: In addition to the non-refundable annual registration fee, non-South African students (excluding citizens of SADC) must pay an international levy at registration.
